David Mitchell

President and CEO
webMethods

As President and CEO of webMethods, Mr. Mitchell's leadership is a critical component of the company's dominant position in the integration software market. Since joining webMethods in 1997 as vice president of sales, Mr. Mitchell managed almost every aspect of webMethods' business, including the global sales organization, marketing, industry solutions, business development and our global services operations, making him the obvious choice to succeed Mr. Merrick, the company's founder, when he stepped down as CEO.

Mr. Mitchell built the company's global sales organization from the ground up, and managed the global expansion of webMethods to include offices throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific. He is also responsible for expanding and managing the company's business development and professional services operations. Under his leadership, the growth of webMethods' worldwide operations has garnered numerous honors including Forbes 500, Intelligent Enterprise's Most Influential IT Companies of 2001, and Software Magazine 500. Mr. Mitchell and his team also increased corporate revenues from less than $1 million to an annualized revenue run rate of approximately $200 million. Today, the company has a customer base of more than 1,300 leading companies and significant strategic partnerships with leading technology vendors and systems integrators.

Mr. Mitchell has been in the software industry for over 10 years. Prior to webMethods he held the position of president and CEO for VYCOR Corporation, a help desk and customer interactivity software company, which was acquired by McAfee in 1995.
